Having multiple teeth knocked out or lost to untreated decay, periodontal disease, or treatment-based extraction can severely compromise your oral health and function. While a removable partial denture can replicate some of the original teeth, it can never fully replace their strength and permanence.

For a mouth so affected, Dr. Milad might recommend installing a pair of titanium dental abutments in preparation for an eventual dental bridge.

Dr. Milad will start by examining the area to assess your jaw structure; this includes taking some X-rays. If the tooth loss also compromised the surrounding bone tissues, he might recommend preparing the area with a bone graft.

With any structural concerns addressed, Dr. Milad can then install a pair of titanium dental implants. This can typically be done in a single outpatient appointment. You will need to be sedated for your own comfort. So, you will need to arrange to have a friend or family member drive you home after your appointment.

Dr. Milad will then make two small incisions in your gums to gain direct access to the underlying bone structure. Then, he will drill narrow channels into the bone then screw titanium abutments into place. Temporary crowns will be cemented over the abutments to protect them while the titanium gradually fuses with the surrounding bone tissues.

Once everything has healed and fused into place, Dr. Milad will schedule a second appointment to fit you for a new bridge. This involves taking an impression of the two abutments and the corresponding teeth. We will send this to our off-site dental lab where the technicians will custom build your new bridge.
